FIFA  the world’s soccer governing body and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) both paid glowing tribute to Rashidi Yekini the late soccer legend on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of his demise. He died on May 4th 2012 aged 48 years

He scored Nigeria’s first goal at its maiden world cup appearance and his passionate celebration of that spectacular goal will always have its place in the history of the football according to FIFA.

RashidiYekini’s professional career spanned over two decades with 2 world cup appearances, 58 international caps netting 37 goals in the process. He also made 253 club appearances, scored 164 goals and was named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.
