Ghana and the rest of the world witnessed another peaceful transfer of Presidential powers today at the Black Stars Independence Square in Accra.
Akufo Addo, 72 year old prominent human rights lawyer, former Justice and Foreign Minister between 2001 – 2008 was sworn in as the fifth President of the fourth Republic wearing an amazing traditional dress that symbolizes the rich Ghanaian cultural heritage.
Nana had contested and won on the platform of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) defeating the incumbent John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who graciously conceded the December 7th 2016 Presidential elections.
Heads of state and Government from several countries, dignitaries, guests and thousands of enthusiastic Ghanaian witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
This milestone event is important to Ghana regarded as one of the most stable and viable political climes on the African continent. It will no doubt further stimulate the consolidation process as an emerging Tourism destination crucial for the growth of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry fast becoming a key contributor to the economy’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
